DIY Chalk Painted Thrifted Furniture

Noni

I don’t have a lot of furniture because we used to move every two years and it was so hard to move big pieces all the time. Now that we are in our house and hopefully will be here longer, I have gotten a lot more pieces. Since my taste changes, I like to thrift them because

1. It’s way cheaper

2. Better construction (if you buy older, solid wood pieces like I do)

3. Easy to change the look if you change your mind.

So every piece of furniture I have is thrifted. Except for a tiny little table I got at IKEA. But I chalk painted that too. Obviously they start out hideous because old furniture usually is. This is why I like to use chalk paint. I don’t know how safe it is to sand certain pieces of old furniture so it’s nice to have the option of not having to sand. And chalk paint transforms them to a wonderful Cinderella-at-the-ball kind of beautiful. I get so many compliments on them and let people think I slaved like Cinderella pre-ball on them.

Here’s what I got:

My hutch

My new Ikea table.

My latest project, a DIY bed made into a bed.

I actually never intended my furniture to match each other but they do! So my hutch, bench, and dining room table are all different colors and paints. I will do a post my table soon because it ISN’T chalk paint.
