Hello friends! I am so excited to be doing Calling it Home’s One Room Challenge this go around! If you aren’t familiar with the ORC, it is the amazing creation of Linda from Calling it Home and sponsored by House Beautiful. Anyone can join! I love seeing all the different projects that talented people have done in the past.
This time we are working on our guest room/boy’s room. Both our boys are still sleeping in our room because that’s just how we like it but all their stuff will be in their room. We got bunk beds for the girls and just decided to keep their old bed in the new room to have when we have guests.
We actually started working on this room in the spring and tried to do it for the Spring ORC, but with me being miserable and pregnant, it just didn’t happen or get finished.
So we have 3 things that we are focusing on: the floor, the closet, and painting the whole room. We had wanted to put up board and batten but decided against it just to keep it simple and faster. And ultimately we are in a cabin so we are trying to keep it as original as possible. Then there are other little things like trimming it out, adding a new light fixture, and adding better storage.
This room was our catchall room had everything we didn’t use in it, it was our office, and our food storage. I’ll post pictures but keep in mind that this is a room we never even went in and we never used it beyond storage.
So now that you have seen pictures of the before, here are a few things inspiration pics.
I want to keep it light and unfussy as possible with touches of warm wood tones. I already have a French proverbial bed set that I need to put in here so we’ll see how I can incorporate it into what I want. Can’t wait to get started.
